Any mental health challenges can negatively impact your quality of life, causing you to be anxious, distracted, tired, and hopeless. But it doesn’t have to be this way. At Metrocare, we provide adult mental health services to treat symptoms of depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, OCD, bipolar disorder, and other emotional challenges so you can live a happier, more fulfilling life.

About Metrocare

Metrocare Services is here to people in Dallas who are experiencing a mental health challenge. We have been serving the Dallas community for over 50 years.

Child Mental Health Services

Counseling Services

At Metrocare, our adult mental health counseling services include research-proven Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

Child Mental Health Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is structured, goal-oriented talk therapy. It helps patients unlearn problematic beliefs they have about themselves and the world. Unlearning these negative beliefs allows them to develop healthier thoughts and behaviors.

Cognitive Processing Therapy

CPT helps adults overcome or reduce symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder through targeted treatment plans.

Child Mental Health Services

Crisis Services

When life’s stressors become overwhelming, it can lead you to a breaking point, putting you at risk of harming yourself or others. At Metrocare, we provide emergency services, including a 24/7 hotline: 214-743-1215. We also coordinate with other community agencies to stabilize you if you are in crisis so you can get the immediate help you need.

Crisis Intervention

Our intervention services disrupt the downward spiral of a mental health crisis and reduce instances of hospitalization. This allows us to create an intentional and compassionate plan for future treatment.

Crisis Respite

For patients who are working through a crisis, our respite services provide a safe residential setting until they are stable enough to be independent. Our supports include symptom and medication management, counseling, treatment plans, and linkage with other helpful community services.

Other Services

Primary Care

Metrocare’s primary care services allow our therapists to collaborate with primary care physicians to provide effective treatment plans.

Pharmacy/Medication Services

For many patients, medication can be very beneficial in treating mental health disorders. The highly trained psychiatrists on our team understand how medication can be part of a holistic approach. For some patients, medication is temporary, relieving symptoms while they undergo therapy. For others, it may be most helpful long term or permanently.

Assertive Community Treatment

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an intensive, community-based program for adults. The 24/7 support assists those who struggle with the most severe symptoms and needs. Many have been frequently hospitalized or arrested before being connected with our services. Our ACT multidisciplinary team includes a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner, a clinical manager, a registered nurse, case managers, and specialists in substance abuse and employment.

Eldercare

Adjusting to aging can be difficult. It doesn’t just affect the body. It can affect emotional health as well. Because of this, adults over 60 require specialized care that allows them to live a full, productive life. At Metrocare, we work with nursing home residents and retired neighbors, providing mental health treatment and working with them to develop skills so they can return to independent living.

Peer Support Services

For some patients, it is extremely beneficial to speak with others who understand what they are going through. By sharing their own lived experience, peer counselors help others develop goals, and take steps toward a more fulfilling life. These peer counselors assist patients every step of the way, encouraging them through their recovery journey.

Life Skills Training

Adults with mental illness often find it challenging to manage stress, which prevents them from functioning effectively. Our intensive therapeutic life skills training includes stress management, structured group outings, and other activities that teach them to take better care of themselves and socialize with others. Through our programs, our patients develop new skills that allow them to live more independently.

Substance Abuse Services

Metrocare’s comprehensive substance use outpatient program employs person-centered and trauma-informed recovery planning. A licensed dependency counselor provides these supports and creates an individualized treatment plan to meet the needs of each person’s goals and strengths.

Benefits from Counseling

While many people think of childhood as a carefree time of life, this age group is subject to just as many—if not more stressors—than adults. In fact, in late 2021, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Children’s Hospital Association declared a national emergency in child and adolescent mental health. The best way to combat this problem is with effective, research-based counseling. Metrocare’s therapy services help children and teens express their emotions, communicate their concerns, develop problem-solving skills, and form healthy relationships. Let us know how we can help.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Meet with a Qualified Mental Health Professional

At Metrocare, we understand that every person is different and requires an individualized treatment plan. You and your child will meet with a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to complete required assessments, discuss your needs, and establish initial recovery goals.

Evaluation by a Psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner

You will complete an evaluation with a Psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner to address medical needs as a component of the recovery plan. Each patient is assigned a Metrocare care coordinator who works with the child’s built-in support system and addresses possible barriers to care.
