The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Metrocare

Overview

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Metrocare provides quality, accessible, and comprehensive mental health care to post-9/11 veterans, service members, and their families. Services are available to any person who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves, regardless of role or discharge status. The Cohen Clinic at Metrocare uses evidenced-based practices with a holistic approach to improve the quality of life for our veterans, service members, and their families. Services are provided by trained and credentialed staff with military cultural competency.

Who We Serve

The Cohen Clinic at Metrocare seeks to complement care provided by the Veterans Administration (VA) and support the mental health of post-9/11 veterans, active duty service members, and their families.

Veterans

Veterans who have served in the United States Armed Services, including the National Guard and Reserves, with a focus on post-9/11 veterans. Care is available regardless of discharge status, role while in uniform, combat experience, ability to pay or insurance.

Military Families

Family members of post-9/11 veterans and service members, including spouse or partner, children, parents, siblings, caregivers and others.

Service Members

Service members of the United States Armed Services and National Guard and Reserves, regardless of activation status.

Active duty service members require a TRICARE referral. Referral is required prior to being seen for individual therapy or medication management, but no referral is necessary for couples or family therapy.

The service member can obtain this referral from their military treatment facility (primary care clinic or mental health clinic). Our clinicians will not communicate with commanders/supervisors.

The Cohen Clinic

The Cohen Clinic also helps to connect veteran and military families to community resources and services, as necessary, through its case management services.

Established in 2016, our location in Addison, TX was one of the first clinics in Cohen Veterans Network, a national nonprofit philanthropic network of mental health clinics for veterans, service members, and their families. Learn more about Cohen Veterans Network here.

Therapy via CVN Telehealth has been shown to be equally as effective as in-person therapy.

To connect, clients need a secure internet connection and a device like a phone, computer, or tablet with audio and video capabilities. At the Cohen Clinic at Metrocare, we use a secure, private, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing software to ensure confidential services.
