Metrocare Expands Access to Care at Richardson’s Esperanza Community Center

Metrocare has begun providing mental health services at the new Esperanza Community Center in Richardson, expanding access to mental health care in a community space designed to connect families with essential supports all in one location.
While the Esperanza Community Center is still rolling out services in phases, Metrocare started seeing clients onsite this month. The center, located at the former J. Frank Dobie Pre-K campus, is a partnership between Dallas County and Richardson ISD aimed at bringing accessible health, educational, and social services under one roof.
At the Esperanza Community Center, Metrocare Services is providing:
- Mental health services
- Care coordination
- Psychiatric care
Services are available for adults and adolescents through referral, scheduled, and walk-in appointments, allowing individuals and families to receive professional, evidence-based care close to home.
The inclusion of Metrocare reflects a broader commitment to addressing mental health as a vital part of community well‑being. According to Dallas County leaders, mental health services were identified as a top need during community planning for the center, particularly in a neighborhood where many households face economic challenges.
The Esperanza Community Center—whose name means “hope”—is being developed as a comprehensive resource hub for the surrounding neighborhood. Once fully operational, the more than 70,000‑square‑foot facility will house a range of services including food assistance, childcare, education programs, health care providers, and senior services, in addition to Metrocare’s mental health offerings.
By offering services at Esperanza, Metrocare is helping remove common barriers to care such as transportation challenges and limited local options. Bringing mental health care into a trusted, community‑based setting supports early intervention, continuity of care, and stronger connections between residents and service providers.
