Metrocare provides a wide array of mental health services, including outpatient clinics, community-based support and rehabilitative programs, housing and homeless services, intensive family services, and long-term support services. Metrocare staff also identify if an individual has both an Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) and Mental Illness and make referrals for appropriate services.

Regardless of ability to pay

Metrocare provides care regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. Metrocare accepts multiple forms of payment including Medicaid, Medicare, some private insurance and self-pay options on a sliding fee scale. Initial appointments include a financial assessment to determine what payer source best fits the needs of the individual receiving services. Our staff is always ready to help you with the challenges you face at any one of our Dallas-area mental health clinic locations. What to Look For – Sign & Symptoms of Mental Illness

  • Excessive worry or fear
  • Feeling very low, sad or hopeless
  • Prolonged feelings of irritability or anger
  • Problems concentrating and learning / disorganized speech or thoughts
  • Avoiding friends and social activities / feeling isolated or alone
  • Extreme mood changes, including uncontrollable highs
  • Changes in sleeping habits or feeling tired and low energy
  • Changes in eating habits such as increased hunger or lack of appetite
  • Difficulty perceiving reality ( delusions or hallucinations, in which a person experiences and senses things that do not exist)
  • Intense feelings that others are trying to harm or conspire against them
  • Thoughts of hurting oneself or others
  • Overuse of substances like alcohol or drugs
  • Multiple physical problems without obvious cases (such as headaches, stomach aches, vague and ongoing aches and pains)
  • Inability to carry out daily activities, handle daily stress, or finish tasks
  • History of trauma
  • Changes in school performance
  • Excessive worry or anxiety
  • Hyperactive behavior
  • Frequent nightmares or sleep disruption
  • Frequent disobedience, aggression or temper tantrums
