DESCRIPTION:Multicultural knowledge\, self-awareness\, and skill application are the foundation for implementing and engaging competently with a diverse client population (Sue et al.\, 2022). In this session\, we will review counseling multicultural competencies\, discuss the Multicultural Orientation framework\, and how to apply trauma-informed multiculturally responsive perspectives and behaviors into your practice. \nBy the end of this training session\, participants will be able to: \n\nUnderstand personal and professional counseling competencies that support working with individuals from diverse backgrounds\nDiscuss the pillars of the Trauma Informed Care and the Multicultural Orientation Framework\nAnalyze strategies for demonstrating a trauma-informed multiculturally responsive counseling practice using the Multicultural Orientation Framework\nApply trauma-informed multiculturally responsive perspectives and behaviors to respective theory and counseling practice with a diverse client population\n\nRegister Here\nCost: $25.00 (Metrocare Staff are free) \nLocation: Mustang Room \nSeats are limited. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in improving your LGBTQIA+ competency? In this session\, counselors will improve their LGBTQIA+ knowledge\, including mental health risk factors\, social/political factors\, and barriers to care. Counselors will learn how to integrate the multicultural orientation framework to provide trauma-informed care to the LGBTQIA+ clients they serve. \nAt the end of this training session\, participants will be able to: \n\nRecognize varying sexual orientations and gender identities including historically used identity development models.\nUnderstand mental health risk factors\, social/political factors experienced among the LGBTQIA+ community\, and barriers to accessing mental health services.\nAnalyze the pillars of the multicultural orientation framework and trauma-informed care principles.\nIntegrate the multicultural orientation framework when applying trauma-informed care principles to counselors’ practice with the LGBTQIA+ individuals they serve.\n\nRegister Here! \nCost: $25 \nSeats are limited.
