Chemical Dependency Program

Metrocare’s chemical dependency programs are designed to provide effective treatment for adults with substance use concerns in a therapeutic outpatient environment. Our team focuses on person-centered recovery planning with an emphasis on recovery being an ongoing process. Metrocare offers both Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP) and Supportive Outpatient Services (SOP).

Services are provided by a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or intern under the supervision of a Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC). Services will be developed and delivered based on the individual’s own needs and goals.

Services include:
• Evaluation and assessment

• Education on HIV/STDs/TB/
• Hepatitis & smoking cessation

Topics Covered

Group counseling is offered twice daily at two different time slots for the convenience of the individual. IOP services are five times per week, totaling 10 hours per week. During the initial phase of IOP treatment, individual sessions are twice per month for the first three months. Community recover/support group participation during this phase is crucial in building natural supports. SOP services are three times per week, totaling six hours per week for up to four months. Individual sessions are offered based on clinical need with an emphasis of transitioning support to natural supports in the community by the completion of treatment.

To be eligible for IOP/SOP services, the individual must complete a chemical dependency assessment and meet the criteria for substance abuse as defined by the most current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). All individuals will also complete a financial assessment to determine payer source.
