Dee Salinas Gutierrez

Mrs. Salinas Gutierrez has served this community most of her life. She holds a Master of Education from Texas A&M University (Kingsville) with additional certifications in special education, educational diagnostics, school supervision and school administration. 

She has worked as a school teacher, educational diagnostician and school principal for the last 40 years before retiring as a Special Education Area Director. After retiring she taught education courses and supervised student teachers at Buena Vista University in Iowa. She also was founding principal of Cisneros Pre-K School in Garland ISD. She worked for Corpus Christi ISD Psychological Services for 14 years and served as a school administrator/diagnostician for San Antonio State Hospital. While employed by Diagnostic Assessment Services she served as Special Education Director for JJAEP and was on the Autistic Team for 5 years. She has served as Liaison for Corpus Christi ISD and Nueces Mental Health /Mental Retardation (MHMR).  Ms. Salinas twice was award the Texas Successful School Award by Texas Education Agency.

She is an active Lion Club member. She has served as club president, vice president and is presently serving as Lion Club secretary. In 1996 she served on the Lion Club Governor Cabinet and received the Grass Roots Lion Award for her outstanding recruitment efforts. She is presently serving on the Irving SRE Advisory Board (Head Start).

She is dedicated to serving her church community and taught religion classes for 25 years. She has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
