The Metrocare Auxiliary

In early 2009, a group of compassionate Dallas community members came together to form the Metrocare Auxiliary.  The role of the Auxiliary is to:

  • Raise awareness about Metrocare Services, as North Texas’ leading provider for people with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and severe emotional problems;  and

  • Identify client needs and assist with securing funding to help enhance patient services and programs offered

The Auxiliary meets 3 to 4 times a year at fun gatherings such as the annual membership drive (usually held in the spring) and shopping spree fundraisers (typically in the fall/early summer) at some of Dallas’ most trendy boutiques.

The major event the Auxiliary assists with each year is the Meal for the Minds luncheon, held in September.  Members work closely with the Development staff and are involved in various roles, such as soliciting sponsorships and tickets, securing donations from Dallas’ top pastry chefs, bakeries, and restaurants for the signature, edible auction, table decorations, and assisting with the event logistics.

The Metrocare Auxiliary is envisioned to be one in which members can give their time, talent, or resources – whichever is appropriate for their life at the time.  For some, it may be a very minimum level of engagement, with more involvement around the annual luncheon event.  Others may decide to take on a leadership role and give of their time and talents in various capacities throughout the year.  There are several opportunities throughout the year to volunteer, such as with Metrocare’s Kids’ Kloset.  The Kids’ Kloset provides new school uniforms to Metrocare’s young clients in need.
The annual Auxiliary membership fee is $30 or $300 for a Lifetime membership.  If you are interested in joining the Metrocare Auxiliary, you may purchase your membership online.  For additional information, please contact Tameka Y. Cass at 214-743-1220 or
