PURPOSE OF JOB:
To deliver primary health and medical care to consumers within Metrocare Services which is within the scope of practice as defined.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Currently approved as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. Currently authorized by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas for Advanced Practice Nurses Limited Prescriptive Authority with a valid prescription authorization number. Masters Degree from an accredited university. At least 6 months experience as an APN in the clinical area.

PURPOSE OF JOB:
Advocate for quality of care. Provides clinical leadership and participates in weekly multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings with a primary goal of fostering quality of care in the treatment team's decision-making. Leads in the development of individual service plans that target appropriate goals/objectives to address problems identified during assessment. Works collegially with staff from all professional disciplines to assure high-quality, coordinated care for patients of Metrocare Services.
Implements psychiatric interventions including, but not limited to, prescribing/monitoring of psychotropic medications. Monitors the individual’s response to psychiatric interventions and adjusts interventions to the individual’s changing needs. Engages and involves family and significant others as positive allies in the treatment process where possible and appropriate.
Delivers clinical psychiatric services consistent with approved program/service models, philosophy of care, Board policies, agency administrative procedures, and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Documents services and progress according to Metrocare Services procedures.
Serves on agency committees/task groups as assigned. Provides consultation and training to other medical and non-medical staff as needed. May be assigned to represent Metrocare Services in public forums during and/or after regular work hours.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
M.D. or D.O. with experience in MH & MR, bilingual, sign language, and crisis intervention. Experience in community mental health, experience in treating mental retardation, experience in treating children and adolescents, and experience in homeless services. Medical licensure in Texas and BC/BE in C&A preferred. Must have supervisory experience and computer software experience.

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To promote quality of care for all unit patients. To provide clinical leadership to the unit staff, so that the unit focuses on quality activities that stabilizes psychiatric symptomatology and maximizes community functioning for Metrocare Services patients. To provide direct supervision and evaluation of unit medical staff. To provide clinical leadership for multi-disciplinary team activities. To provide and document psychiatric evaluation and treatment to assigned patients. To promote a consumer-centered environment conducive to effective teamwork, good staff morale, and valuing of the strengths/resources of patients and other staff.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from an accredited Medical School and completion of an approved residency in Psychiatry. Must have experience in Community Psychiatry (minimum 12 mths). Licensed to practice medicine in Texas. Current DEA and DPS registration for the prescription of controlled substances. Meets requirements for credentialing by the DMS Credentialing Committee.
