Metrocare provides services to people with mental illness and developmental disabilities through four primary programs.

PROGRAMS

Adult Mental Health Services provides a full range of mental health treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to people with mental illnesses, particularly those with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Five outpatient clinics serve Dallas County, acting as the hub for the development of individualized treatment plans for each client. A range of services and supports, including Supported Housing, Supported Employment, and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams, are offered to support the individual living independently in the community. Additional specialized programs include a mobile crisis team, programs for the homeless, and a program for mentally ill offenders, providing specialized alternatives for people with mental illnesses in our community.

Child & Adolescent Services offers an array of services designed to meet the needs of children and adolescents experiencing severe emotional and/or social problems, as well as their families. Based on a "wrap around" model, Child & Adolescent Services provides programs in homes, schools, and day care centers, involving the people and supports already available in the child's life in order to create an integrated treatment program and better-functioning families.

Mental Retardation/Developmental Disability Services provides a complete range of services for people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities, including vocational services, supported employment, foster care services, and individualized supports for those living in the community.

Early Childhood Intervention Services provides care for infants noted at birth to have multiple developmental issues.

The Mental Retardation Authority (MRA) serves as the entry point for residents of Dallas County for eligibility and determination in accordance with state law and the Department of Aging and Disability Services.  The Service Coordination unit provides assistance for an individual in accessing medical, social, educational, and other appropriate services and supports.  External and Internal Provider services are contracted and monitored by the MRA.

Provider services and supports may include community support, respite, specialized therapies, employment assistance, supported employment, behavioral support, vocational training, day habilitation, in home family support and Home Community Based Services (HCS)/Texas Home Living Services.
